Before delving deep into the matter let's talk about what is objectification ? Objectification is the act of treating a person as an object
or a thing who does not have autonomy to do whatever she want. Our society has preconceived notions of the things and tries to
impose them on human behavior and appearance.
In Indian society objectification of people is also encouraged by film industries where men are always seen as robust, mentally
strong best decision makers and women as motherly weak, timid and crying . In item songs cameramen generally focus on female
sexual parts to attract male viewers and they try to show the genitals of women as objects . To substantiate this claim let's take some
examples.Movie like kabeer Singh glorifies violence and abuse against women where preeti is seen as passive and beautiful doll
who is known in college only because she was"bandi" of protagonist male character.after this movie we witnessed a boy inspired by
Singh killed women hostess because she was marrying another guy . Movie like Ranjhana glorified stalking in which man stalk
female character until she falls in love with stalker and presents songs like khali peeli Khali peeli rokne ka nahi Tera pichha kru to
tokne ka nahi infront of young generation who dance to these song tunes. Though our society is constantly changing, still Females
are usually highly sexualized with large breasts, a tiny waist, fluttering eyelashes, and coy expressions and consequently boys begin
to develop a false image of women. In contrast, women who do not fit these stereotypes are seen as ugly and unpleasant, often
taking on the role as the villain. Overweight women are either not portrayed at all or portrayed in a negative manner.Disney movies a
common theme is that women are valued more for their appearance than their intellect. intelligent females are often ridiculed. For
example, in The Beauty and the Beast, Belle is said to be odd since she likes to read books. Instead of seeing smart, independent
women, females are often portrayed as the seductress. From a young age girls are taught to use their body, not their brains, to get
what they want. Transgenders are supposed to identify themselves with females or males because society didn't create other
categories. Objectification leads to increases in negative emotions such as anxiety, anger, embarrassment and shame when they
don't find themselves matching the criteria of society. Causing mental distress may lead to destruction of one's life so society needs
to come out of their notions and stop doing crime to save humanity.
